Justified Freely By His Grace

Romans 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

freely you don't have to give one thing, justification is FREE.

HOW?? = By HIS grace,

GOD'S righteousness is revealed, because HE can have JESUS pay for your sins (that’s redemption) at no cost to you, it's free.

Now that your sins are gone. HE can give you what you don't deserve = HIS GRACE.

ALL FREE IF YOU WILL ACCEPT JESUS.incredibly wonderful!!!

GOD'S Righteousness Has Provided Justification

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Since all have sinned; GOD'S righteousness has provided justification or cleansing for our sins.

IF we'll accept JESUS death & resurrection as payment for or sins.

The Righteousness of God Was Revealed By GOD

Romans 3:22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;

The righteousness of God was revealed by GOD.

HOW??

By providing JESUS to all people. Why did GOD need to provide JESUS?

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Righteousness of God Apart From the LAW

Romans 3:21-22 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;

Since GOD brought the law, and according to verse 20 by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Then all the law has done is shown us our wrong, it has not shown us how to be right. However, through the Law and the Prophets was the revealing of how to be righteous or justified.

No Flesh Will Be Justified

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

According to the law no human being will ever find justification. This is so important to understand about the law, no flesh will be justified in His sight,

When you think of Old Testament law, think of this is as how we learned we did wrong. THIS IS NOT HOW WE LEARN TO DO RIGHT.

Fallen Short By Committing Sin

Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

The law shows that all have fallen short of the glory of GOD. No matter how righteousness a person may seem, THEY HAVE fallen short BY COMMITTING SOME SIN.

The law did not show the path to righteousness but rather showed that all are guilty before GOD, stopping every mouth from boasting in false righteousness.

Man Without God

Romans 3:12-18 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."13 "Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit"; "The poison of asps is under their lips"; 14 "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood;16 Destruction and misery are in their ways; 17 And the way of peace they have not known."18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."

In Romans 3 verses 10-18 Paul quotes and paraphrases a number of Old Testament passages--
The first passages he quotes come from King David in the book of Psalms.

Psalms 5:9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth;Their inward part is destruction;Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue.

Psalms 10:7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity.

Psalms 14:1-3 They have all turned aside,They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

Psalms 36:1 An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked:There is no fear of God before his eyes.

Psalms 140:3 They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah

The latter passages he quotes come from the Prophet Isaiah in the book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 59:7-8 Their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed innocent blood;Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; Wasting and destruction are in their paths. 8 The way of peace they have not known, And there is no justice in their ways; They have made themselves crooked paths; Whoever takes that way shall not know peace.

Again up to this point so far he has only supported his statements by logic or reason now he supports them scripturally. To point ou the evil in man and his need for God.

Supporting Statements Scripturally

Romans 3:11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.

So far in this chapter Paul has only supported his statements by logic or reason now he supports them scripturally. Paul is Quoting Psalms 14:1-3

Psalms 14:1-3 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. 3 They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

We Are All the Same

Romans 3:9-10 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.

Is anybody better then another before GOD? NO NOT AT ALL. Not Jew or Greek, not any nationality or race has an in with GOD.

they are all under sin. = All fall under the category of sinner.

Truth of God Has Increased

Romans 3:7-8 For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? 8 And why not say, "Let us do evil that good may come"?; as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just.

Pauls lie that he speaks of is not a lie at all but is showing GOD'S glory

"Let us do evil that good may come" Apparently that is a quote from some people trying to slander Paul’s ministry

Their condemnation is just. Paul is saying if that where said he agrees that he would be wrong. But of course he did NOT say that.

Let Your Light Shine

Romans 3:5-6 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.) 6 Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world?

In Verse 5 Paul Asks another question here. Does God use man's sin to glorify Himself? And if HE does then HE is wrong to inflict wrath on the sinner.

In Verse 6 he answers it. No, God does not use man's sin to glorify Himself. If HE did He would have to abandon all judgment.

If that where the case then a person could say, I sin so GOD can show HIS righteousness. That would be the opposite of what GOD is trying to do.

Jesus Said in Matthew.5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

NOT YOUR BAD WORKS.

God Will Always Remain Perfect

Romans 3:4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged."

The answer come for the question proposed in the verses before when Paul asks the question Romans 3:3 For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect

NO WAY! Their unbelief could not stop GOD'S faithfulness. Could not stop GOD'S truth from remaining truthful.

Every man could have been a liar and GOD'S word would still be true.

The statement "let God be true but every man a liar" could say Let God keep on being true even though every man becomes a liar. This quotes part of Psalm 116:11 I said in my alarm, "All men are liars."

Then David wrote in Psalm 51:4 "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged."

The idea here is that mankind will do wrong and misrepresent GOD. BUT GOD WILL ALWAYS REMAIN PERFECT and HIS words will always be justified. Mankind’s unfaithfulness will not cause GOD'S words to be unfaithful.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Unbelief Will Not Change a Thing

Romans 3:3 For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?

We learned in verse 1&2 that the Jews where giving this special knowledge and responsibilities and were GOD'S representatives. WHAT IF SOME DID NOT BELIEVE?

Does their unbelief stop GOD from accomplishing HIS plan?

Absolutely not!

Their unbelief will not change a thing.

Just because a person doesn't believe in hell doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

With Knowledge Comes Responsibility

Rom 3:1-2 What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?2 Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God

The Jew's had some advantages. The chief one being, they were entrusted with the oracles of God = the very words of God, Exodus 19-20; Deuteronomy 4:8.

They did a great job of keeping the word accurate. One would write a letter another would view. If at any time a mistake was made they would trash it all, no cross outs or erasers aloud. THE JEWS DID A GREAT JOB AT KEEPING THE ORACLES PURE.

They were also the race that the Messiah came from (Isaiah 11:1-10; Matthew. 1:1-17).
However this did not make them better than anyone else. Actually it made the Jews even more responsible to live up to Gods requirements. Because with knowledge comes responsibility.

Inside Work of the Heart

Romans 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.

Real circumcision is not physical but spiritual. It’s an inside work of my heart being turned over to GOD. It is not an outside look or ritual that makes me right.

Satan got away with getting knowledgeable & confident people off-track. Let’s not let him duplicate the same tactic on us. LET YOUR LIFE BE ONE OF TRUSTING AND OBEYING So others will bring Glory to GOD not blasphemy.

To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice

Romans 2:27 Will GOD not honor obedience over ritual?

David wrote in the book of Psalm chapter 51
Psalm 51:16-17 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart -- These, O God, You will not despise.

Samuel also said to Saul;
1 Samuel 15:22 Then Samuel said: "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

The Intent of the Heart

Romans 2:24-26 For "the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you," as it is written. 25 For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. 26 Therefore, if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision?

"the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you," Paul begins by quoting Isaiah 52.5

Because their circumcision is coupled with disobedience, it has become the object of the Gentiles blasphemy. If you say you are a believer in Christ, but then do the things, or take part in things that you KNOW God does not want you to do, your example becomes like blasphemy to those around you who don't believe.

On the Same Note: Just because someone has not been physically circumcised, but he lives his life in obedience to GOD, IS HE NOT BETTER THEN ONE CIRCUMCISED AND NOT OBEYING GOD.

Do You Follow the Same Rules

Romans 2:22-23 You who say, "Do not commit adultery," do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law?

Paul is asking each person reading this letter, How are you doing personally at obeying what you teach others to obey?
Do you follow the same rules? Or are you exempt because you think you have some special in because you’re a father, preacher, cop, judge, teacher, Jew or whatever the excuse my be.

Guide to the Blind

Romans 2:19-20 and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and truth in the law

These Romans were so confident in this Law, that they felt they could show others what they must do to get right with GOD.

Romans 2:1718 Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and make your boast in God, 18 and know His will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

The Jews at the time felt that they could Rest in the law by having the Law
and then Boast about having GOD

They clamined to know HIS will by having the Law.

Just because you know of the law, and think you know God does not mean that you are living in His Will.

God Will Judge the Secrets of Men

Romans 2:16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Paul also wrote the book of Ephesians saying; Eph 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them

Now Paul begins to expose the Jew for the folly in what they believe.

note: From verse 1 through 16 the subject has to do with a coming judgment, something Paul preached as well as Jesus.

Pauls point is that GOD is the judge, not man.

Our part as man is to show the path to JESUS where an acquittal can be found to avoid condemnation.

Law Written On Their Heart

Romans 2:13-15 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; 14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them)

Although Gentiles did not have the Mosaic law they do have a heart and a conscience that they will answer for. A type of law written on their heart.

The law was written for the Israelites. GOD wanted to use them as an example to all other nations of what it met to be blessed or cursed by GOD based on their obedience.

For the rest of the world they have their GOD given hearts and conscience to live by.

Leaving both parties without excuse.

Just because a person may be aware of the Law does not make them safe or saved. It all depends on weather they obey the law or not.

If you drive 50 miles per hour in a 25 MPH zone, you are a lawbreaker weather you know the speed limit or not.

It isn't what you know that matters it what you do that matters.

There Is No Partiality With God

Romans 2:11 For there is no partiality with God.

Jews had a problem with thinking GOD is partial to them. Scripture makes it clear this is not the case. They need JESUS, as do we.

Christians tend to think that GOD is partial to them because they have JESUS. But they are also wrong GOD shows no partiality.

GOD DOESN'T LOVE A CHRISTIAN MORE BECAUSE THEY HAVE JESUS HAVING JESUS SIMPLY ALLOWS ONE ACCESS TO HIS LOVE, BUT HE LOVED YOU THE SAME BEFORE YOU WERE A BELIVER AND AFTER YOU BECAME BELIVER.

Which Do You Want for Your Future?

Romans 2:10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

What the believer has to look forward to.

Indignation, wrath, tribulation and anguish,
or Eternal life, glory, honor, and peace.

Which do you want for your future? God wants to give you Eternal life, glory, honor, and peace but GOD can only give this to those who receive JESUS as personal Messiah.

If not, even though GOD wants to give you Eternal life, glory, honor, and peace HE CAN’T you will have to receive Indignation, wrath, tribulation and anguish because only JESUS can set us free from that coming judgment.

Self-seeking will led to disobedience to GOD.

In the book of Matthew Jesus Said in Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

The Reward For Bearing Good Fruit

Romans 2:7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

It is not by works that we are saved Ephesains 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
This makes that very clear, however there are evidences (fruits) of true believers just like there are evidences (fruits) of non-believers.

The reward for bearing good fruit, those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; is eternal life to those who believe.

According to Your Deeds

Romans 2:6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds":

The judgment of GOD will be based on our deeds.

If we are Born Again Christan's it will be the product of our lives. And if we are not it will be like the Apostle John wrote in Revelations 20:12 about the judgment.
Rev.20:12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.

Christians are mentioned in Rev. 22:12 "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.

Seventy Times Seven

Romans 2:5 But in accordance with your hardness and your im.pen.i.tent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

Instead of representing GOD'S heart on the situation it's the hardness of an im-pen-i-tent heart. DIRECT OPPOSITE OF GOD.

Don't think you can judge others without receiving the same judgment. In the book of Matthew Jesus Said Mathew 7:1-2 "Judge not, that you be not judged. "For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

I don't believe JESUS was just joking around? Later on in the book of Matthew, Peter ask Jesus about forgivness.

Matthew 8:21-35 21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 “But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down at his feet[a] and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’[b] 30 And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. 32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ 34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

Some claim this passage isn't referring to GOD, However vs. 35 makes it very clear that is in reference to GOD.
