Remain In God's Love

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, (39) nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We can not be open to it or not be willing to receive it. But it is there.

The closing context of this chapter seems to be that if we will be “IN” Christ JESUS, we will be guaranteed;

1. To remain in GOD’S love,
2. To be destined to a life of serving HIM, which will help conform us into HIS image
3. To a calling, that will justify us and bring us into glorification.

And that’s not all a life “IN” JESUS will bring, it’s simply all we can cover this morning.

If your life isn’t “IN” JESUS it can be right now, if you’ll respond to HIS call.

Come Quickly LORD JESUS

Romans 8:23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

We too long to be with JESUS, and see things restored in proper balance. Which will not happen until the redemption of our body. This is what the terms "children of GOD and sons of GOD means in vs.'s 19 & 21.

This is the feeling we have when you say, "Come quickly LORD JESUS" or "take me home LORD".

When you long for the wrong that takes place in this life to end.
When you long for the hurts and the pains to be over.... ... ...When your anxious about JESUS return.

We Suffer With Him

Romans 8:17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Being a Born Again Christian, will require going through some sufferings. Some are self-inflicted it's the battle between the flesh and the spirit. Some are attacks from other people because they have a problem with your Adoption. Some is from satan who is diligently trying to stop you from experiencing what GOD has for you.

John 12:24-26 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

2 Timothy 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Children of God

Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Not bearing witness to my flesh, or my mind but with my spirit. As I accept by faith HIS words I can have this witness that assures me I am HIS child.

The Spirit of Adoption

Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."

The Born Again Christian isn't under bondage of obey or die. Fear relationship. But is under adoption where we have a family relationship

When the Christian is "born again," they are adopted into a relationship with the family of God. John1:12

Believers are adopted sons (Gal. 4:5; Eph. 1:5), not slaves (Gal. 4:7); so they need not be enslaved to sin or in fear.

In New Testament times as today, adopted sons enjoyed the same privileges as natural-born sons. So, instead of cowering in slave-like fear, Christians can approach God in an intimate way calling Him Abba, Father.

But if we tried to approach the relationship in our flesh we would still be separated and not part of HIS family, it would be a fearful visit.

When you’re adopted you need that reassurance that you’re HIS child. That reassurance is the Holly Spirit IN you.

Put to Death the Deeds of Sin

Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

When we live according to the flesh it's such a put down on GOD. HE frees us from this bondage to sin (abusive relationship) and then we return to it.

We must put to death those area's of the flesh that try to dominate our lives. In doing this we're allowing the Spirit to reign in your life and there is victory for those who are in Christ JESUS.

Put to death the deeds, this is the same as, to[1] reckon as dead. Romans 6:11 It's a play on the word die[2] written before it. It's like saying, [3]If you do not kill sin, it will kill you. Like what GOD said to Cain;

Genesis 4:6-7 So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it."

We Are in Debt to the Spirit

Romans 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors; not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

As Born Again Christian's we don't have to follow the appetites of the flesh. We don't have to give in to fleshly desires. Actually as Born Again Christian's we are in debt to live in the Spirit. OK HOW DO WE FIND VICTORY OVER OUR FLESH? check back tomorrow

Made Alive Through the Spirit

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Since we died to the body because of sin I'm made alive again because of HIS spirit.

Law of the Spirit

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death

The only way to become free from the law of death is to live in the law of the Spirit. When I walk in the Spirit, the law of the flesh doesn't apply. It's already been taken care of by JESUS.I am free from condemnation.

It's like being in an airplane that is going to crash. It will crash but you have a parachute, you’re not in the same situation as others without the parachute. I've been set free from the condemnation or judgments of this crash. All I have to do is put on JESUS and I'm going to be free from the danger. How do I put JESUS on? I live in and through HIM. I live to please HIM.

In Christ Jesus

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

If I am “in” JESUS their will be no condemnation, in the flesh I will have it.

Romans 7 Vs.25 said through JESUS here

Romans 8 vs.1 say’s in JESUS.

Romans 7 Vs. 25 said through JESUS I serve the law with my mind rather then the flesh

Romans 8 vs.1 says being in JESUS I walk according to the spirit rather then the flesh.

The physical act may be the same but one is allowing JESUS to work through them the other is doing it on their own.

One in the Flesh is condemned for falling short by not doing all that they might have been able to do, the other in the Spirit is blessed for the good that they did do.

If they both did the same thing, how do we know who is in the Spirit and who is in the flesh?

Ones condemned the other is free, one carries quilt the other carries blessings.

War Between Two Natures

Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

There is within every one of us, a war, between the 2 natures. It goes on in my mind who will win the battle of the wills. My flesh or HIS spirit. Will I die to self so GOD can reign in me or will I become a slave to sin.

Neither Slave to Sin or Righteousness

Romans 7:20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

I am either a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness. This is not a cop out statement so we could blame sin instead of self for or wrongs its is pointing out my inability

JESUS said, (John 15:5) "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

If I do something that bears fruit then I have obeyed JESUS. If I do something that bears bad fruit then I have obeyed SIN.

Thus, it is no longer I who do it, but sin (or JESUS) that dwells in me.

The Law Reveals Sin

Romans 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead.

Until the law was revealed, sin was unknown or unrevealed.

The law became the target; sin showed that I missed the target. The law did not show me how to hit the target; it only showed me I was missing the target.

Serve in the Newness of the Spirit

Romans 7:6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

now we have been delivered from the law, my spouse named Law died when I introduced him to JESUS, so I married JESUS.

And now I'm no longer married to Law, who no matter how hard I tried, I could not satisfy, I was always falling short, never really feeling loved or desired, just hammered and corrected.

In all honesty Law's death was not a disappointment and I married JESUS on the same day.

It's interesting because my new marriage actually has a greater demand on me then Law every did. But now I serve for loves sake and I enjoy it so much more, I want to please JESUS and I never felt that way about Law.

Now I serve with a newness of Spirit. I don't serve the letter of Law but JESUS through His Spirit placed in my heart. It's such a better relationship.

How the Law Works

Romans 7:2-4 For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. 3 So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man. 4 Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another; to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.

Verses 2-4 are an example of how the law works.

7:2 If a woman becomes a wife, she is no longer free as a single woman she is bound by the law to be a wife to that man and only that man.

7:3 As a wife if she married another man she a law-breaker deserving of death. But if her husband died she is no longer a wife and she is free to remarry. Something that would be a horrible sin became OK.

7:4 Just like a woman could remarry according to the law so also a JEW under the law could die to that law and come alive to another, JESUS.

That way they could bear fruit for GOD, because according to the law they are always missing the mark bearing no fruit. They would recognize their marriage or commitment to the law as ended, dead to the law and remarried to JESUS

The Gift From God Is Eternal Life

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The product of living for self (sin) is death;
The product of living for GOD is life everlasting with JESUS in heaven.

Sold Out For JESUS

Romans 6:19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

human terms because we are not really slaves, but it might be good to think of ourselves that way.We once gave our all to satisfying our fleshly desires, now lets give our all to satisfying GOD'S desires. LET'S present our members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

Lets go for it and see what GOD will do if we'll be sold out for JESUS. Lets give our all to JESUS. Let's live as hard for GOD as we did for our flesh.

Set Free From Sin To Serve God

Romans 6:17 -18 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

You obeyed the gospel and found salvation through JESUS.

GOD be thanked, and praised, and exalted and glorified... ...I've been set free from sin so I can serve GOD.

Titus 2:11-15 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you

Reckoning Ourselves DEAD TO SIN.

Romans 6:11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

:: yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, and alive to GOD. Not just dead to sin! Reckoning is counting something as happened. It is faith in action ignoring circumstances & feelings.

Back in verse 6 it said, knowing this, that the old man was crucified. The death that we die spiritually is a death by crucifixion. In order to be crucified, we must have someone's help,
one can't crucify themselves.
So I must go to GOD with the thing that I need to die to and it is there that I will find the ability to come alive to GOD.

Normally when we come alive to sin we try and hide from GOD. We ignore HIM, we avoid HIM, we pretend HE’S not there... ... THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF RECKONING OURSELVES DEAD TO SIN.

And if we don't we are alive to sin and dead to GOD.But I could be and should be alive to GOD and dead to sin.

Made Alive in the Spirit

Romans 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

The death that HE died was a total and complete payment for all sins. PAID IN FULL. And the life that HE lived HE lived to GOD, not himself or anything else.

Our relationship with GOD begins at JESUS death; it is there where we must take care of cleansing our sins and allowing GOD'S grace to be implemented into our lives.

Then we move on into a life in CHRIST.

Peter wrote;

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, OK THAT COVERS THE DEATH PART that He might bring us to God, THAT WHY HE DID IT. BUT HERE HOW IT WORKS = being put to death in the flesh but THAT’S NOT SO BAD BECAUSE IT CAUSED ME TO BE made alive by the Spirit, I MUST PUT TO DEATH MY FLESHLINESS SO I CAN BE MADE ALIVE IN SPIRIT.

Failing to put to death means I can't come alive to HIS spirit.
