Sold Out For JESUS

Romans 6:19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

human terms because we are not really slaves, but it might be good to think of ourselves that way.We once gave our all to satisfying our fleshly desires, now lets give our all to satisfying GOD'S desires. LET'S present our members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

Lets go for it and see what GOD will do if we'll be sold out for JESUS. Lets give our all to JESUS. Let's live as hard for GOD as we did for our flesh.

Set Free From Sin To Serve God

Romans 6:17 -18 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

You obeyed the gospel and found salvation through JESUS.

GOD be thanked, and praised, and exalted and glorified... ...I've been set free from sin so I can serve GOD.

Titus 2:11-15 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you

New Life That Has Power Over Sin

Romans 6:8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,

died being in the Indicative mood causes the "if" to means since or because, The if is not subjunctive which could imply one did or didn't die with Christ.

If you where justified by faith you must of died with Christ. And since you died with Christ you will live with Him.

Remember the question in verse 1 shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? GOD forbid or based on what we know we might say, that would be impossible.

If a death to self hasn’t taken place, GRACE CAN’T ABOUND. But with a death to self not only does grace abound but also sin’s hold is broken.

Not only are my sins washed away, but also I can have victory over them.

GOD DIDN’T JUST CLEAR A BELIEVERS SLATE, BUT HE GAVE THEM A NEW LIFE THAT HAS POWER OVER SINS GRIP.

Walk In Newness of Life

Romans 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life

we also should walk in newness of life. People read Romans chapter 5, and discover that Christ died for their sins, and receive Him into their hearts and all; but fail to take up the words of Romans chapter 6 and discover the life of a justified believer. THEY OFTEN WANT TO STAY IN CH.5 THINKING THEY DON'T HAVE TO MOVE INTO CH.6 AND BE RESPONSIBLE OR ACCOUNTABLE.

They want salvation, but not new life. It is impossible to have salvation without new life.They want resurrection from the dead without dying. The living doesn’t get resurrected only the dead do.

Sometimes people will ask, do I believe in Lordship salvation, I’m not sure what the phrase means but if JESUS is not LORD, which in the Bible HE is, then can a JESUS who is not Lord save?

Having JESUS as Lord is one of the best parts of living the Christian life. I’m not left on my own to figure out how to live my life. I have JESUS as my LORD I simple need to figure out what HE as my LORD wants me to do.

His Great Love Looks Beyond Our Behavior

Rom 5:7-8 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

HE has already demonstrated HIS love, what we must ask ourselves is, will we respond to it?

1 John 4:9-11 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

In Romans verse 8, Paul is trying to explain the depth and character of GOD'S love for us.

Showing that maybe a person might die in the place of someone they view as good. BUT JESUS DID FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BAD LIVING IN THEIR SINS.

Jesus was willing to show his great love towards us by dieing for us before we even wanted to have anything to do with HIM. HIS great love looks beyond our behavior.

However in order for us to obtain it we must receive

Our Hope Is In the Glory of God

Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans Chapter 5 Paul tells us the blessings that come with justification by faith.
Blessings that I believe GOD wants us all to experience. As well as some difficulties that come with being a Christian.

Remember "Justified" means "just as if I never did it." The 1st result of justification by faith is peace with God. My slate is clean there is no record of my wrongs. God chooses to remember them NO MORE.

If justification depended on my works, some days I’d have peace and some days I would not, it would depend on my performance. There seems to be an inconsistency at times between my Christianity and my walk. I do not always do those things that are pleasing to GOD. I cannot say with Jesus “I do always those things that please the father,” I wish could but in all honesty I can't. Sometimes my works are really good other times they’re not.

Since my justification is dependant upon my faith in JESUS and HIS perfect works, not my imperfect works. I have peace and vs. 2 I also have access into GOD'S grace meaning I’ll get what I don't deserve or I’ll get that that GOD has for me.

Knowing this causes me to experience more blessings. I rejoice because my hope is in the glory of God or in the purposes of GOD. NOT MY ABILITY or LACK OF ABILITY. What a wonderful thing for GOD to do.

Confirm the Reality of Faith

Romans 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also,

Circumcision served as God's seal to Abraham that he was righteous.

It was an after product to confirm the reality of faith. The Holy Spirit enters our heart after salvation as a seal or confirmation.

Outward Expression of Our Love

Romans 4:5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

That is, "to him who does not work" for justification? Something satan would love to get us all involved in. This is why different 'so called' Christain Cults are so busy knocking at doors; they are convinced that they must earn their justification.

DON'T MISUNDERSTAND - Being justified doesn't mean we do nothing; we should be His own special people, zealous for good works. (Titus 2:14) But not to merit something rather as a way of saying thank-you and confirming that GOD is working in me to will and do of HIS good pleasure. (Phil. 2:13). It is or should be an outward expression of our love to GOD.

Justified Freely By His Grace

Romans 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

freely you don't have to give one thing, justification is FREE.

HOW?? = By HIS grace,

GOD'S righteousness is revealed, because HE can have JESUS pay for your sins (that’s redemption) at no cost to you, it's free.

Now that your sins are gone. HE can give you what you don't deserve = HIS GRACE.

ALL FREE IF YOU WILL ACCEPT JESUS.incredibly wonderful!!!

God Will Judge the Secrets of Men

Romans 2:16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Paul also wrote the book of Ephesians saying; Eph 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them

Now Paul begins to expose the Jew for the folly in what they believe.

note: From verse 1 through 16 the subject has to do with a coming judgment, something Paul preached as well as Jesus.

Pauls point is that GOD is the judge, not man.

Our part as man is to show the path to JESUS where an acquittal can be found to avoid condemnation.

The Just Shall Live by Faith

Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

"it" being the "the gospel of CHRIST" from vs.16.

The gospel from a human prospective will save everyone who will receive and eternal damnation to everyone who doesn't. Paul writes the church in Corinth
1Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

1ST fact From a heavenly prospective the gospel is "the power of GOD unto salvation" and the "righteousness of GOD revealed".

"the power of GOD unto salvation" because to everyone who will believe or receive GOD'S plan of salvation, the power of GOD will save them from the punishment phase of sin or the death to come.
GOD HAS THE POWER TO FREE YOU FROM THAT HORRIBLE EVENT.

2nd fact"righteousness of GOD revealed" because in order for righteousness to be maintained you can't just ignore the payment due for sin. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, God had to pay this wage in order to 1. save people and 2. maintain his righteousness. So the "righteousness of GOD was revealed" by paying the price or wage for sin.
This GOD did by having JESUS die on the cross. the just for the unjust Paul writes again to the church in Corinth
1 Corinthians 15:21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

from faith to faith;
The phrase is difficult to completely understand, Some say;
(1) from the faith of the Old Testament to that of the New Testament;
(2) from the faith of the preacher to that of the hearers;
(3) from God's faithfulness to man's faith; or
(4) from a young faith to a mature faith.
Literally, the words can be translated "out of faith unto faith."
Most likely is referring to a maturing or growing faith.

"The just shall live by faith." from Habakuk 2:4, also quoted in Galations 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38.

Faith is the only way to become just, because it is the only way to receive salvation.

For by grace we are saved through faith

Set Apart & Committed

Rom 1:7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

In this section of the book of Romans, Paul points out why he wanted to visit Rome.

The first part of this verse is very defining. Rome = literally Christians in Rome, but it could be Metropolis or any city.

Beloved = agapetos, ag-ap-ay-tos'; dear to GOD.

Called = invited, i.e. appointed,

saints = sacred, set apart, (blameless or religious, consecrated). (most) holy (one, thing), The New Testament calls all believers "saints" because they are position ally holy and set apart to God.

Paul defines a Believers here; someone who is loved by GOD, invited to be set apart as holy and committed to GOD.

Q: What does Paul want for these special people??????
A: Grace & Peace from GOD our Father and Lord JESUS Christ. That is from GOD who is a father to us and Jesus who is Lord and savior (Messiah).

Grace being getting what we don't deserve and
Peace being the by-product of having HIS grace.

Paul Writes in the Letter to the Philippians:

Phil. 4:7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa Minister Chuck Smith Wrote on this topic,"Many Christians are upset, worried, and frantic. They're not sure that God will work out everything, and their lives are in turmoil. They don't have the peace of God. This is the peace to which Paul is referring. After I recognize that the grace of God is unmerited favor, I can experience the peace of God because I'm no longer striving. I realize that His blessings haven't been earned by my merit or goodness. I'm now trusting in God's completed work, and I'm at peace in my relationship with God. I've totally committed myself to Him. "
