Who Can Separate Us Form Christ's Love

Romans 8:35-36 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

The Answer to Verse 35 is: NO WAY

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

It Is God Who Justifies

Rom 8:33 Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.

What charge can stand against us? NOT ONE since GOD justifies.

Go ahead and let satan do all the slamming he wants, it holds no weight against us.

Who Can Be Against Us?

Rom 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Paul uses these rhetorical questions to lead us to wonderful biblical truths; (1st) God is for us; (2nd) He will freely give us all things; (3rd) He has justified us; (4th) He prays for us; and (5th) no power can separate us from His love.

Who can be against me? The world, the flesh, and the devil are against me. against me.
But these are no match for God who helps me, strengthens me, and works to present me faultless before His glorious presence with great joy.

The Spirit Himself Makes Intercession

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

This groaning is one of the ways a person prays in the Spirit.

In Jude 15:20 we are told to pray in the Spirit. Scripturally speaking this would also refer to praying in tongues. As mentioned in Acts.2, 1 Cor.12-14

Paul uses this verse as an illustration to living in hope or faith, whatever you want to call it.Just like we wait and hope for JESUS to come and redeem us.

That faith is the same as when we groan in the Spirit because we don't know what to pray.So in vs.22 all of creation is groaning, vs.23 we as Christains's are groaning and here the Spirit groans within us.

Groan's = to sigh, murmur, pray inaudibly:--with grief,

We Were Saved In This Hope

Romans 8:24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

If you where going to buy a house you hope the deal goes through. ( loan is approved, contract signed, escrow closes...) Once you own the house you don't hope for it any more, hope is over because your in.

We are saved by faith or hope in JESUS to redeem these bodies.

Now, if we see that this is done we are no longer living in hope because seeing it would mean it's already done, and why would someone hope in what they already see as having happened.

Come Quickly LORD JESUS

Romans 8:23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

We too long to be with JESUS, and see things restored in proper balance. Which will not happen until the redemption of our body. This is what the terms "children of GOD and sons of GOD means in vs.'s 19 & 21.

This is the feeling we have when you say, "Come quickly LORD JESUS" or "take me home LORD".

When you long for the wrong that takes place in this life to end.
When you long for the hurts and the pains to be over.... ... ...When your anxious about JESUS return.

Life "IN" Christ

Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us

Paul is explaining about life “in” Christ JESUS. Writing about how wonderful it can be to live in the Spirit by faith rather then in the flesh by sight.

Someday I will be with HIM and nothing in this life will compare with the glory that awaits us when we are there.

As we learn to live in the Spirit our focus & priorities change from ourselves and this life, to GOD and eternity.

The Spiritually Minded Person

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace

The carnal mind is at best trying to please GOD by doing something in the flesh. That something depends on what religion a person follows. THAT CARNAL MINDSET BRINGS DEATH.

Biblically speaking that carnal mind isn't really pursuing GOD at all but pursuing self or a self made god. Often this person doesn't even consider GOD because the fleshly appetites rule their life

When Adam was created he was formed out of the dust, a body of dirt. Then GOD breathed on him and he became a living being. As a living being, he had a spirit, a mind (soul), a body. 1st was his spirit meaning he was spirit led he was aware of and drawn close to GOD.When Adam sinned he became fleshly, no longer spirit lead but body led, he became body, mind, spirit. Now instead of having GOD 1st he had himself first. His fleshly appetites began to rule, proven by his desire to hide his nakedness from GOD. He did want to be open and honest before GOD.

The spiritually minded person has life that leads to peace. Living in harmony with GOD and HIS plan.

Sold Out For JESUS

Romans 6:19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

human terms because we are not really slaves, but it might be good to think of ourselves that way.We once gave our all to satisfying our fleshly desires, now lets give our all to satisfying GOD'S desires. LET'S present our members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

Lets go for it and see what GOD will do if we'll be sold out for JESUS. Lets give our all to JESUS. Let's live as hard for GOD as we did for our flesh.

Set Free From Sin To Serve God

Romans 6:17 -18 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

You obeyed the gospel and found salvation through JESUS.

GOD be thanked, and praised, and exalted and glorified... ...I've been set free from sin so I can serve GOD.

Titus 2:11-15 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you

Die To Sin To Live For Him

Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!

Same idea as in Romans 6 verse 1 & 2. Just because I have GOD'S grace doesn't give me a ticket to sin.

If I've really received HIS grace my desire should be to die to sin in order to live for HIM.

Instruments of Righteousness

Romans 6:13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Present yourselves to GOD as instruments of righteousness, because you have followed (Romans 6 verses 8-12)

1st we know that we need to die with JESUS, BUT KNOWING ISN'T ENOUGH

2nd we came to HIM with that that I need to die to, A PRAYER RECOGNIZING MY INABILITY AND HIS ABILITY. My need to die in order to allow HIS ability to work through me.

3rd I reckon myself dead to it and alive to him I TAKE MY FAITH AND PUT IT TO ACTION

4th I see that, SIN can not reign in me when I do this, I don't have to obey it's lust.

5th I present myself unto GOD an instrument not just dead to sin but alive to HIM.

Made Alive in the Spirit

Romans 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

The death that HE died was a total and complete payment for all sins. PAID IN FULL. And the life that HE lived HE lived to GOD, not himself or anything else.

Our relationship with GOD begins at JESUS death; it is there where we must take care of cleansing our sins and allowing GOD'S grace to be implemented into our lives.

Then we move on into a life in CHRIST.

Peter wrote;

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, OK THAT COVERS THE DEATH PART that He might bring us to God, THAT WHY HE DID IT. BUT HERE HOW IT WORKS = being put to death in the flesh but THAT’S NOT SO BAD BECAUSE IT CAUSED ME TO BE made alive by the Spirit, I MUST PUT TO DEATH MY FLESHLINESS SO I CAN BE MADE ALIVE IN SPIRIT.

Failing to put to death means I can't come alive to HIS spirit.

What You Already Know

Romans 6:9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.

knowing - this is the 3rd time in 9 verses Paul is saying we know something, also in vs.3 & 6

In Romans 6 vs. 3 we need to know that we died when we where baptized in HIM

In Romans 6 vs. 6 we needed to know that our death brought freedom from sin

now in Romans 6 vs.9 we need to know that JESUS has dominion over death or we might say dominion over the wages of sin.

New Life In Jesus

Romans 6:5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,

If I died to my flesh at salvation then I ought to be heading towards the likeness of His resurrection. Or New Life in JESUS.

Walk In Newness of Life

Romans 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life

we also should walk in newness of life. People read Romans chapter 5, and discover that Christ died for their sins, and receive Him into their hearts and all; but fail to take up the words of Romans chapter 6 and discover the life of a justified believer. THEY OFTEN WANT TO STAY IN CH.5 THINKING THEY DON'T HAVE TO MOVE INTO CH.6 AND BE RESPONSIBLE OR ACCOUNTABLE.

They want salvation, but not new life. It is impossible to have salvation without new life. They want resurrection from the dead without dying. The living doesn’t get resurrected only the dead do.

Sometimes people will ask, do I believe in Lordship salvation, I’m not sure what the phrase means but if JESUS is not LORD, which in the Bible HE is, then can a JESUS who is not Lord save?

Having JESUS as Lord is one of the best parts of living the Christian life. I’m not left on my own to figure out how to live my life. I have JESUS as my LORD I simple need to figure out what HE as my LORD wants me to do.

Babtized Into Christ

Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?

I would bet many proclaiming Christians do NOT KNOW that. Satan doesn’t want us to know the whole truth; he only wants us to know bits & pieces. So we’ll miss out on the life JESUS has for us.
Baptized into Christ Jesus or in other places it reads the name of JESUS means being joined together with all that JESUS offers. NOT JUST THE PARTS A PERSON MAY LIKE.

Baptized into His death seems to be a missing link in the gospel of today. But it’s a wonderful part of Christianity. You see, dead to me means I can be alive to HIM; alive to me means I quench or die to HIM.

In Galatians Paul talks more abou this. Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

In the Gospel of Luke, Luke tells us in Luke9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

When we are baptized, symbolically it means the old me that went under died and the new me was born again in JESUS. In order to be born again I have to die to self.

Dead to Sin

Romans 6:2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Verse 2 begins Paul’s answer to this thinking as an answer to Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?.

Certainly not! GOD forbid, NO WAY! That thinking would be completely off base.we who died to sin IF we have died to sin then there is no way that we would continue to live in sin.

This idea of a Born Again Christains being dead to sins is threaded throughout the New Testement.

Galatians 5:24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness -- by whose stripes you were healed.

New testament Christianity clearly teaches that we die to sin not excuses it because grace will overshadow it.

Grace May Abound

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

As we finished ch.5 we’ve learned that justification is by faith not works and that GOD’S grace abounds above and beyond sin.

The problem with these wonderful truths is that if a person stops in chapter 5 and doesn’t continue to read on, they can come to the wrong conclusion. So ch. 6 tries to avoid drawing and incorrect conclusion.

Romans 6:1 This question is addressed because it might be possible for someone to misunderstand Pauls point by taking a verse out of context.

In this case based on what Paul wrote in 5:20 we need some clarification. (Romans 5:20) Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,

Replaced With Grace

Romans 5:20-21 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

The law exposes the sin. Sin means missing the mark. You don’t know how far your missing the mark until you put up the target. (law)

Once we see the law we see how much we missed the mark

Sin reigning in death or grace reigning unto eternal life.

Recap:

v. 17—Death vs. life: Death reigned through Adam, but Christians reign in life through JESUS.
v. 18—Condemnation vs. justification: Adam’s sin ushered the human race into condemnation; JESUS death brings justification with God.
v. 19—Disobedience vs. obedience: Adam disobeyed God, which caused us to be born into sin. JESUS obeyed God, which makes it possible for us to be free from sin.
v. 20—Law vs. grace: God did not give the Law to save mankind, but rather to expose how far we are missing the mark. Once we see that we see it is impossible to hit the mark, so GOD provided a free gift that allows HIS grace to be applied rather then HIS law.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

The new creation, which has received JESUS, no longer has sin reigning, IT HAS PASSED AWAY replaced with grace. Death does not reign, IT HAS PASSED AWAY replaced with life.
